Description

Anyone who has already encountered critical driving situations with their vehicle combination will know how sensitively trailers react at high speeds – and what dangers can threaten! Minor lane change manoeuvres, side winds on bridges or wind pressure when overtaking trucks can cause the trailer to start swinging. There is a significant danger of the trailer "snaking" and becoming uncontrollable. Anyone who has experienced the benefits of AL-KO Trailer-Control will never again want to tow a vehicle without the aid of the electronic braking system. For your car you can trust ESP and for your trailer you can rely on ATC.

How the ATC Trailer-Control works

  • ATC sensors measure the slightest lateral acceleration directly from the axle of the trailer as soon as the vehicle combination starts to skid
  • The ATC immediately brakes the trailer automatically. The driver barely notices the electronically controlled correction
  • Within a few seconds ATC has brought the vehicle combination back under control and driving safely. The trailer is brought back on track and under control automatically.

Automatic: The safety check

  • The 13-pin plug establishes the electrical power supply to the car
  • The ATC Trailer-Control system automatically starts a function test
  • The LED on the overrun device lights up green. The system is 100% functional

AL-KO 2LINK Connectivity System and ATC

AL-KO 2LINK brings the relevant information of the ATC system to your smartphone. The 2LINK Box is the basis for this, which sends data to the smartphone via Bluetooth LE. The free 2LINK app allows you to view the current status of the ATC system on your smartphone. The ATC status display is already integrated into the 2LINK system. You will find further information on the various components of AL-KO chassis technology here.

FAQ

Around two to four hours as retrofit.

No, only for trailers with AL -KO axle, which meet the weight requirements, see brochure under technical data. For some trailer types, the difference between total weight and curb weight is very high, which usually prevents the ATC from being installed there.

No. It is sufficient for the general operating permit to be included with the vehicle documents.

The ATC is connected to the trailer's distribution box when travelling, where it is supplied by the continuous positive of the 13-pin plug.

(Standard fusing) 15 amps.

No. The electrical power supply via the 7-pin plug is not sufficient.

No. The ATC brakes the outfit much more gently than applying the car breaks. As a result, there is no need for the brake light to be activated.

No. Like the EPC in a car, the ATC is purely an emergency system and does not improve the critical speed range.

No. The system is maintenance-free.

As soon as the 13-pin plug is connected to the towing vehicle, the ATC performs a complete self-check (one brake activation and check of the electronics system). The function status is indicated by a green LED on the starting device.
green = ready
red = errors detected (but safe to tow)
red flashing = errors and not safe to tow

The gentle braking effect can be felt in the car for some outfits.
